Atlanta Mindfulness Institute and the Atlanta Insight Meditation Community Spring 2022 Metta Retreat

With Stephanie Swann, PhD and Susan Reviere, PhD

March 4 - 6, 2022

Program is fully booked

Cultivating a Life of Lovingkindness

In the Pali language, Metta means unconditional friendliness or lovingkindness.

During this Metta Retreat we will come together to create a container of lovingkindness as we immerse ourselves in the practices of this boundless home of the heart. We will focus on different forms of Metta practice and we will contemplate the interplay of metta with the other divine abodes of the heart: compassion, joy, and equanimity,

From Friday evening through midday Sunday, we will enter into Noble Silence as we alternate periods of sitting and walking meditation.  Held in the beautiful natural surroundings of Elohee, we will aspire to cultivate within and around us a sense of stillness and open-heartedness.

During the retreat, Dhamma talks along with periods of instruction and opportunity for Q&A will be offered by teachers Stephanie Swann & Susan Reviere. Optional meetings with the teachers will be made available as well.

If you have never done metta practice, this is a beautiful introduction. If metta is already a part of your practice, taking several days to commit solely to your practice can deepen and strengthen your experience of open heartedness.

We hope you’ll join us.  We do request that all participants have received the COVID vaccination.

In keeping with Buddhist tradition, this retreat is offered by the teachers freely. However, at the end of the retreat, participants will have an opportunity to offer dana to the teachers if they are so moved to do so. Dana is the Pali word for generosity. If this concept is new to you, it will be explained in more depth at the retreat.
