Mandala Hall
The Heart Center of Elohee
In Sanskrit “mandala” means both circle and center, suggesting that it represents both the visible and invisible – the macrocosm around us and microcosm deep inside our hearts and minds. Thus, it seems fitting to refer to the seventeen-sided building serving as Elohee’s primary meeting space as Mandala Hall. Located adjacent to The Pond and Fire Ring, its primary space is 45 feet in diameter which makes it ideal for group meetings, meditation, yoga and dance classes. Its windows overlooking forest and valley allow for Nature to enter visibly.
Mandala Hall utilizes a prefabricated, panelized structural shell manufactured by Deltec Homes, in Asheville, NC. The Deltec design uses up to 50% less energy than a similarly sized conventional building. Furthermore, it was built in an energy efficient manner since Deltec’s solar powered manufacturing generates 78% less waste than a typical site-built structure.
Elohee’s Mandala Hall has been integrated into the master plan created in conjunction with two ecological design firms, Shades of Green and Sustenance Design, which specialize in regenerating ecosystems through sustainable, permaculture landscapes. Credentialed in landscape architecture, agriculture, permaculture, and geomancy these firms are helping us make Elohee into a place where medicinal plants and natural beauty thrive thereby sustaining the ecosystem surrounding it.
